Lusail circuit issues emergency shelter plan for Qatar weekends

The Lusail International Circuit has issued an emergency response plan covering the MotoGP weekend in Qatar and the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix on 27-29 November. The document, prepared by the circuit's Security and Operations Division and Safety and Security Operations Committee, identifies designated shelter locations, capacities and access routes for attendees, personnel and event staff.

The plan comes amid heightened regional tensions this year, which have led to the cancellation or postponement of many sporting events in the Middle East. MotoGP is proceeding in Qatar despite reports that most riders were reluctant to travel and the withdrawal of Yamaha. Riders had reportedly sought written assurances, including shelter and evacuation plans, insurance in case airspace closures leave personnel stranded, and repatriation cover.
