Lawson finishes seventh in Sao Paulo after strong weekend
Liam Lawson had a strong Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekend, qualifying fifth and promoted to third on the grid after penalties for others. He made a good start and briefly ran second behind Kimi Antonelli, but his intermediate tyres soon lost their performance and he slipped back through the field.
Lawson said the graining on his tyres began early in the first lap and that his Racing Bulls car could not keep pace with the top teams once the track began to dry. He lost places to Oscar Piastri and George Russell on slick tyres, and when rain returned late in the race he was passed by Charles Leclerc, finishing seventh.
