F1 remains on schedule for Qatar and Abu Dhabi, with Plan B active
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has said the championship is still on schedule to complete the season in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, but confirmed that a contingency plan is in place. He cited the complexity of logistics, administration and sales as reasons for the preparations, and said F1 and the FIA are monitoring the regional security situation while avoiding emotional decisions.
Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack said the uncertainty is reaching team members' families, and that the team is trying to reassure them while acknowledging that absolute reassurance is not always possible. He said Aston Martin trusts F1 to make the right decisions, given that it has more information than the teams.
Meanwhile, MotoGP's Qatar weekend has included a 13-page safety guide for teams and media, and Formula 1 equipment is reportedly already moving towards the Gulf.
