Nemechek joins Haas Factory Team for 2027 O'Reilly Series

Source: Autoweek · · added 13 minutes ago

John Hunter Nemechek will move into the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series with Haas Factory Team for 2027. He says the situation differs from his 2021 move from the Cup Series to Kyle Busch Motorsports in the Truck Series, when he was trying to revamp his career. This time he says he does not see it as a revamp, and believes his headspace and maturity are different.

Nemechek won five races for KBM in 2021 and placed third in the standings, then followed with two victories and a fifth-place standings finish in 2022. He returned to Cup with Legacy Motor Club in 2024 but never placed in the top 20 in the driver standings over three years, and he had no experience in the current Cup car.

Haas Factory Team President Joe Custer has challenged Nemechek to be the team's O'Reilly Series leader. Nemechek will drive the No. 41 Chevrolet, while Dean Thompson takes the No. 00, replacing Sheldon Creed and Sam Mayer.
