Márquez downplays Bezzecchi incident ahead of title decider
Marc Márquez won the Sprint Race in Lusail and earned his first match point of the season, which he can use tomorrow to clinch the riders' title. Jorge Martín is the only rider who could still challenge him, after Marco Bezzecchi's hopes were ended by a crash on the gravel at Turn 1.
Contact with Márquez triggered the Aprilia rider's fall. The stewards ruled it a normal racing accident, but controversy has followed. Márquez said that people could talk about it if they wished, adding that his line through the corner matched the previous lap and that he tends to enter a little wide before closing the line.
Márquez compared the incident to one in Indonesia, saying Bezzecchi was ahead of the others going into the corner. He said his airbag deployed and that he was not initially aware how close he had come to crashing himself.
