Norris tops first practice at Sao Paulo ahead of Antonelli
Lando Norris set the fastest time in the opening practice session for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos, beating newly crowned World Champion Kimi Antonelli by 0.082 seconds with a 1:11.717 on soft tyres. Max Verstappen was third, 0.236 seconds behind Norris, and Lewis Hamilton fourth, with four teams separated by little more than three tenths of a second.
The session was interrupted by a red flag for Audi rookie Freddie Slater. Norris also ran a revised front wing while team-mate Leonardo Fornaroli used the previous specification, a change the team said was aimed mainly at its 2027 car rather than immediate gains. Fuel loads and tyre programmes remain unknown, so it is unclear whether McLaren has regained its edge, and rain is forecast for the weekend.
